Genesis 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (NIV)  The world has been in existence always, or, it was made out of nothing; one or the other; yet we can conceive of neither.* As we begin this walk through the Bible, it is appropriate that we begin with God’s opening statement to the world. This very first verse makes no attempt to explain anything that existed or occurred before “the beginning.” From the beginning, God has required faith from his people. Scientists have developed elaborate theories about the origin of the universe, and some even try to include God by suggesting that evolution was the process he used.  But if he could create the universe over the course of a few million years, why couldn’t he do it in six days?  Does the world’s theory of the origin of the universe require any less faith in the impossible than the Bible’s version?
